Taking to the rails on the famous Rocky Mountaineer, this journey takes you from the cosmopolitan city of Vancouver to the heart of the Rockies through spectacular mountain scenery.

You will talk to naturalists who share their incredible knowledge of the landscapes and wildlife in the Rocky Mountains. Together explore scenic Lake Louise, stroll along the shores and listen to tales that reveal the geology and history that most people would miss. And our local friend in Jasper gives you an insight into the native heritage, history and abundant wildlife, which ranges from bears to mighty elk to mountain goats.

DAY 1   ARRIVE VANCOUVER (2 NIGHTS)
Welcome to Vancouver! Check into your hotel and spend some time exploring downtown or perhaps take a walk near the harbour. At 6 p.m., gather at the hotel with your Travel Director and fellow travellers for a Welcome Reception.  

DAY  2  VANCOUVER SIGHTSEEING
Be swept away by sparkling Vancouver with its panoramic views of English Bay. Set out for Stanley Park to see its towering totem poles and explore historic Chinatown and Gastown, the city's first downtown, named for “Gassy” Jack Deighton who opened the area's first saloon. This afternoon, visit an art gallery, do some shopping, relax at a cafe, savour an optional lunch and tasting at an urban winery or visit the Capilano Suspension bridge. Enjoy a Regional Meal at a local restaurant this evening.   Full Breakfast  /  Regional Meal

DAY 3  VANCOUVER – ROCKY MOUNTAINEER – KAMLOOPS
All aboard the Rocky Mountaineer train for an unforgettable daylight rail journey through the diverse natural beauty of 5 mountain ranges. Travel through the fertile fields of the Fraser River Valley and alongside the towering peaks of the Coast Mountains before entering Fraser Canyon. End your day's journey in historic Kamloops.   Continental Breakfast /  Lunch   Hotel is assigned by Rocky Mountaineer

DAY 4  KAMLOOPS – ROCKY MOUNTAINEER – JASPER (2 NIGHTS)
Back onboard the train, make your way through the dramatic mountain landscape of British Columbia to the delightful alpine town of Jasper, Alberta. Relax at your hotel located in this quaint town and breathe in the fresh mountain air. Be on the lookout for wildlife in town.  Continental Breakfast /  Lunch 

DAY 5   JASPER FREE TIME AND SIGHTSEEING
Start the day with some free time enjoying the superb vistas, strolling Jasper's quaint streets, or if you like, take an optional float trip down the Athabasca River before an interpretive walk at Maligne Canyon, one of the most beautiful gorges in the Rockies. Learn about the underground river system while following the canyon's trail past waterfalls and jagged rock formations. After, cruise Maligne Lake, followed by a rustic dinner along the water. Learn about Rocky Mountain wildlife at an interactive presentation by a Local Expert.  Full Breakfast / Dinner

DAY 6   JASPER – COLUMBIA ICEFIELD – ICEFIELDS PARKWAY – BANFF (2 NIGHTS)
Head south along the stunning Icefields Parkway, driving beneath snow-clad peaks and alongside thundering waterfalls and glistening glaciers. Keep an eye out for wildlife including elk, black bear and mountain goats. At the Columbia Icefields, board an Ice Explorer for a journey onto the massive Athabasca Glacier. See lovely Peyto Lake before arriving this afternoon at the alpine resort of Banff.   Full Breakfast  / Dinner

DAY 7    BANFF SIGHTSEEING AND FREE TIME
Immerse yourself in the glories of Banff, including the viewpoint of Surprise Corner, spectacular Bow Falls and the wind-shaped rock formations known as hoodoos. Then take an optional ride on the Banff Gondola for a bird's-eye view of six mountain ranges. Spend the rest of the day as you like; explore the shops along Banff Avenue, or perhaps arrange an optional experience such as a helicopter flight over Mount Assiniboine or a float trip down the Bow River.  Full Breakfast

DAY 8    BANFF – LAKE LOUISE – CHASE
Arrive on the shores of lovely Lake Louise where you'll learn about the history and geography of the area on a brief interpretive walk. Soak in the stunning landscape with its azure glacial waters, deep green forests, jagged snow-covered mountains and the mighty Victoria Glacier. Then travel through the alpine majesty of Yoho and Glacier National Parks to the temperate rainforest of Mount Revelstoke National Park. Arrive in Chase in time for dinner.  Full Breakfast / Dinner

DAY 9    CHASE – VICTORIA (2 NIGHTS)
Travel back to the Pacific coast and across the Strait of Georgia by ferry to Vancouver Island and quaint Victoria, home to fashionable tea rooms and old English charm. Though the wooden fort is long gone, Bastion Square (the birthplace of the city) welcomes visitors with lovely architecture and a bustling market. Your orientation tour will also introduce you to the scenic Inner Harbour and the impressive Parliament Buildings. The evening is all yours to explore. Full Breakfast 

DAY 10    VICTORIA SIGHTSEEING
Start your day with breakfast at the world-famous Butchart Gardens, a 55-acre preserve of gorgeous floral gardens. Learn about the history of the gardens and immerse yourself in the extravagant exhibits featuring flowers in full bloom. Spend some time exploring on your own, strolling the winding pathways, spotting butterflies and taking in their unique natural beauty. Visit a family-owned winery and taste the perfectly balanced vintages. The vintages have been carefully crafted with grapes farmed from over 100 acres and aged in French Oak barrels. Enjoy a tour of the winery, then indulge in a Be My Guest Farewell Dinner featuring local cuisine delicately paired with delicious wines.   Full Breakfast /  Be My Guest Dining

DAY 11    VICTORIA – DEPART VANCOUVER
Travel by ferry back to the mainland. Transfers will be provided to the airport or to the a Vancouver Hotel in for those extending their stay.  Please do not schedule flights before 4:00pm.   Full Breakfast
