From Vancouver - VIA Rail & Rocky Mountaineer - 22 Days

An amazing cross Canada Tour. See the beauty of Canada from your comfortable panoramic seats on our trains. Enjoy sumptuous cuisine from Vancouver to the Rockies across the great plains and Canadian Shield to Toronto, Quebec and finishing in Maritime Canada.  You'll meet people from all over the World.


     


DAY 1  Upon arrival into Vancouver, transfer on your own to our hotel.  Overnight in Vancouver.

DAY 2  This morning board the "Rocky Mountaineer" to begin your train adventure. Transfer to the station is on your own. Travel through to Kamloops in the interior of British Columbia. Overnight in Kamloops.

DAY 3  Today your rail adventure continues into the Canadian Rockies. Travel through the famous Spiral Tunnels in Yoho National Park and continue on to Banff National Park. Transfer to your selected hotel in Banff. Overnight in Banff.

DAY 4  In the morning your "Discover Banff" tour will take you through the town of Banff and its surroundings. Visit the historic Cave & Basin, see the views from Tunnel Mountain Drive and take a ride up Sulphur Mountain on the Banff Gondola (included).  Enjoy a free afternoon in Banff Town. Overnight in Banff.

DAY 5  Depart this morning on your tour that takes you past Vermilion Lakes to Johnston Canyon and on to Lake Louise along the scenic Trans-Canada Highway.  Overnight at your selected hotel in Lake Louise.  Time permitting visit  Moraine Lake in the Valley of Ten Peaks.

DAY 6  Your full day tour takes you along the scenic Icefields Parkway, stopping at the Columbia Icefield. Enjoy an "Ice Explorer" ride (included) on the Athabasca Glacier.   Continue on to alpine Jasper for a two night stay.

DAY 7  This morning see the beauty of Jasper and its surrounding rugged peaks. Your three hour morning tour includes Medicine and Maligne Lake and Maligne Canyon. Overnight in Jasper.

DAY 8  Your morning is at leisure.  Later board VIA Rail's "Silver and Blue" Train eastbound to Toronto.  Meals onboard the train are included. Overnight onboard the train.

DAY 9  Travel through the Central Plains of Canada to Winnipeg.  Overnight onboard the train.

DAY 10  Breakfast, lunch and dinner are once again included onboard the train.   Enjoy the scenery as you cross over the Canadian shield into Ontario.

DAY 11   Arrive at Toronto's Union Station in the morning, transfer on your own to your selected hotel. Overnight in the bustling metropolis of Toronto.

DAY 12  Tour exciting Toronto in the morning. Highlights of this two hour tour includes New and Old City Halls, Parliament Buildings, University of Toronto, Yorkville, Chinatown, Harbourfront and the Financial district.
Overnight in Toronto.

DAY 13  A full day excursion to famous Niagara Falls (including lunch) highlights this day. This tour also takes in the beautiful and historic region of Niagara-on-the-Lake. Return to Toronto for a third night.

DAY 14  Today, depart on VIA Rail's service bound for Ottawa, Canada's capital city. A meal will be included onboard the train. Transfer on your own to your hotel in Ottawa. Overnight in Ottawa.

DAY 15  This morning, tour the nation's "Capital" highlighted by Canada's Parliament Buildings, the Embassies, the Prime Minister's residence, Rideau Falls and Canal. A free afternoon is yours to explore the National Arts Centre, walk the parks, or visit Canada's Parliament (walking distance from hotel). Overnight in Ottawa.

DAY 16  Transfer on your own back to the Ottawa train station. Depart for your journey to fabulous Montreal and includes a meal onboard. On arrival at Montreal's Central Station, you will transfer on your own to your selected hotel. Overnight in Montreal.

DAY 17  Your discovery of Montreal, the world's second-largest French-speaking city, begins with a city tour including Old Montreal, Notre Dame Basilica, Olympic Park and Mount Royal Park for a view of Montreal Harbour and the St. Lawrence River. The remainder of the day is yours to explore cafe,s and boutiques, or the extensive "underground" including shops and restaurants. Overnight in Montreal.

DAY 18  After your free morning, continue your rail trip with VIA Rail to the charms of Quebec City. You'll enjoy a meal on the train and upon arrival, transfer on your own to your hotel . Overnight in Quebec City.

DAY 19  Today, start with a morning sightseeing tour of the only walled city in North America. Highlights of your two hour tour include the Latin Quarter, the Plains of Abraham, the Ramparts, world famous Chateau Frontenac, the National Assembly, the Basilica, City Hall, Place Royale, the Citadelle and a glimpse of modern Quebec City. Spend the afternoon exploring Quebec's many art shops, galleries, boutiques, pastry shops and excellent restaurants. Overnight in Quebec City.

DAY 20  Your day is at leisure, before your evening rail journey to Halifax. VIA Rail's "Ocean" is the finest way to appreciate the splendid scenery of Canada's Maritime provinces. Overnight onboard VIA Rail.

DAY 21  This morning enjoy a continental breakfast before arriving in Halifax. Feel free to explore the train and discover how train travel has come of age in Atlantic Canada. A late afternoon arrival and transfer on your own to your hotel begins your stay in Atlantic Canada. Overnight in Halifax.

DAY 22  Check out of your Halifax hotel to conclude your tour. Additional hotel nights can be arranged in Vancouver and Halifax to extend your stay.
